We speak to Zaynab Nasrullah, Principal Consultant, about her career development, the Fast Track Consultant programme, and why she enjoys working at i3.
Can you tell us about your career experience before joining i3Works?
I had recently graduated from the University of Bristol with a Mathematics degree so most of my career experience before joining i3Works was part-time jobs.
What is your role and what does an average week look like for you?
I’m a Principal Consultant at i3Works and lucky enough to not only be able to experience working client side, but I also lead our Fast Track Consultant (FTC) programme. Over the past 4 years at i3Works, a typical week will give me the opportunity to work at our client offices as well as our Bristol office which is great for informal catch ups but also if I ever need any advice!
What attracted you to i3Works?
Being a local business was definitely a benefit, but more importantly it was i3Works’ culture and values which really stuck out to me as somewhere I wanted to work. This was really cemented when I came in for my interview and could see those values being echoed throughout.
Can you share a project or achievement you’re particularly proud of?
Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many projects but one that really sticks out is being able to develop and iterate our FTC Programme, taking onboard feedback, to ensure it is the best it can be. I’ve worked with FTCs from their time on the programme to now, several years as a consultant in the business, and it’s great to see everything they’ve achieved.
How would you describe the culture at i3Works?
Throughout my time at i3Works, the one thing that has been consistent is the support from everyone, no matter where they sit in the business. This for me has always created a safe environment not only to ask every question under the sun but also to be able to try new and interesting things.
What’s your favourite part about working here?
The variety! I have been able to take on different internal roles, with one of my favourites being supporting local universities with their mentoring and placement programmes. These have massively helped my development and almost always feed into my client work.
How does the company support your professional goals and aspirations?
Experience is always paramount in my opinion, but i3Works had helped me gain industry recognised qualifications including APM PMQ, Managing Successful Programmes, AgilePM, Assurance Practitioner, SAFe 5 and ITIL v4. These have really helped consolidate my knowledge and complement my experience. To further aid my progression and development, my career plan is regularly reviewed during one-to-ones with my manager to make sure I’m on the right path to achieving my goals.
What do you do in your spare time?
I’ve recently moved, so most of my spare time has been spent painting, hanging pictures or disposing of mountains of cardboard! Aside from that, I’m involved with a homelessness charity in Bristol (Feed the Homeless), which started during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it’s been so eye opening to be able to work with the other volunteers and see the impact we’re making.
What would you say to someone considering applying for a job at i3Works?
Go for it! As much as interviews are a chance for us to understand you, it’s also a chance to see if we’re right for you.
