Project Summary
The Service Integration Office (SIO) within Defence Digital (DD) was established to ensure effective transition to a service delivery organisation and consists of several portfolio integration offices (PIOs). PIOs function to implement a coherent approach to the delivery of end-user services. However, many PIO areas require alignment to corporate policy and industry best practice and were considered immature in their implementation of P3M practices.
i3Works was commissioned by the SIO to (i) carry out P3M (planning and scheduling, risk, dependency, business change and benefits management) assurance across all PIO areas, (ii) develop tooling to capture and report PIO performance, (iii) rapidly deploy skilled resources where needs were identified, (iv) upskill and knowledge transfer to PIO and SIO teams.
Outcomes and Benefits
- Produced a suite of tools to assess and capture PIO area performance, using this data to provide a tailored approach to mature each PIO area
- Identified teams who would benefit from additional resource, and rapidly deployed highly skilled individuals to drive PIO maturation
- Established ‘communities of practice’ within each P3M area to knowledge share and increase capability throughout the SIO
